Bear Chase Engagement Session in Bluemont, Virginia

What a joy to spend a Saturday morning at a beautiful location with such a fun couple! Sara and Nick requested to have their engagement session at Bear Chase Brewing in Bluemont, Virginia, and of course I supported that idea. When we were planning this session back in February neither of us had any idea that we would spend the next three months wondering if we'd actually get to this point. COVID-19 put the world at a stand still for two solid months (more or less depending on where you were and whether you were on the front lines). The most important thing was to stay safe and stay healthy but boy were we glad to learn that Northern Virginia was opening up just in time.

This Saturday morning in June started with a very relaxing drive down Loudoun County country roads with a to-go cup of coffee and catching up on podcasts. Arriving at Bear Chase Brewery was surreal. Staff was buzzing around preparing for what seemed to be Father's Day but really was one of the first Saturdays they've been open in months. The brewery's exterior has that look that's really in right now but I don't know the actual name of - you know the one I'm talking about - modern industrial farm house-esque. White board and batten exterior, black windows and trim with black barn lights, and warm wood tones - everything I love right now in design. But then...you walk around the corner and the wide open view over the valley and rolling hills is show stopping!

Sara + Nick prepared perfectly - COORDINATED outfits with various tones of blue and textures that helped them pop off the background. The term 'coordinated' is important! You want to stand out but stand together/look good standing together. Sara's hair and makeup were on-point thanks to some help from her sister, Lauren, who was an absolute gem to have with us for a second set of eyes for the details.

Selfishly, I had such a great time with these two (actually, three :)). Between calls and emails, I knew these two were going to be fun. They graciously took my posing prompts, we laughed together, and topped the whole session off with some lifestyle photos enjoying what Bear Chase has to offer!

October will bring a beautiful wedding celebration for these two and I cannot wait to capture it all!
