Bright May Morning Maternity Portraits at the State Arboretum of Virginia
Oh my goodness - all the pregnancy glow and summertime goodness of this maternity session!
Nikki first found me back in the fall for family photos. Connecting with her was an absolute bright light during a really dark personal time. Take my word for it - her fall family photos are some of my favorites. (I'm very behind on blogging!)
When she reached out this spring requesting maternity photos - I was so elated! Elated for their sweet baby they were expecting and elated to see her and her family again.
We planned her session for - my favorite - the State Arboretum of Virginia in Boyce. This location is especially impressive in the late spring, early summer season when the gardens are rich and full of blooms.
Nikki did her homework and was prepared with some festive props. A few good ideas for maternity photo props include your sonogram (baby's first picture!), a baby onesie, letterboard with baby's coming soon message, balloons, flowers, etc. Nikki found massive navy blue balloons - baby boy was on the way, after all - that coordinated perfectly with their outfits.
We walked through the arboretum starting with the gardens, then the iconic stone building, and moved into the tree-lined side yard.
Her daughter was very excited to be a big sister. From what I'm told, she was also excited for photos with me. Melt my heart! Big sister was dressed in a beautiful flowing dress with lace detail on the back. She was so perfect through our photos - twirling in the garden, smiling naturally, and very excited to take photos with mom.
I just loved our time together and am so excited to see their family grow by one sweet little boy!
