😳My Dentist Taught Me a Lesson in Brand Photography

It's true, my dentist gave me a lesson in being a better brand photographer.
No, it's not the x-ray images he reviews. Or the lighting system he has in place. It's deeper than that...
But first, you should know that I hate teeth. Can't stand them. Absolutely gross.
Don't reply back with 'good luck being the tooth fairy' BS because I'm there and teeth are falling out all over the place.
How do kindergarten teachers do it?! Terrifying 🫣
However, my dentist is an excellent teacher. And dentist.
Each appointment I walk in totally nervous and on edge with the sounds of drills, and the little mouth suckers going, smells of disinfected metal tools - you get the picture...
Truly the atmosphere of torture. Softened with lovely photos from his travels on the wall.
It's not until my dentist starts the exam that I start to relax.
That should be the worst of it. Now all the sights and sounds are surrounding me while he's poking around with sharp metal tools.
But why do I relax?
It's because he literally talks through everything that he's doing while he's doing it. And it sounds something like 'counting, counting, measuring, looks good, this doesn't belong to you, got it, measuring...'
He even says things like 'touching you, touching you...' while poking into my gums.
And it takes a lot not to giggle when he says that.
Never an awkward silence and only the occasional pause.
And that's what I hope you experience during your session with me.
Because I know you don't like being the only one in front of the camera.
Wondering if you're posed just right, if your hair is looking the way you want, if you're smiling too much or not enough.
It's my job, and quite frankly my number one goal, to ensure you feel comfortable throughout your whole session.
So his lesson of talking through the whole visit? Reinforces that I'm not crazy for talking through our whole brand session together.
Yes, I will give you a play-by-play of what I'm doing, what you should be doing, and likely making fun of myself.
Saying things like 'let me check the light, okay, changing a setting, good, relax your hand, great, whoops forgot to take the lens cap off, it's my first day being a photographer LOL...'
Because your genuine laugh looks phenomenal in photos!
Have you put your brand photos on the backburner because of fear?
