It's the day you've been waiting for - the email hits your inbox 'Your Brand Photos are Ready!'
You did it. You took the initiative to have your brand session, put in the time to plan and prepare, showed up to your session with high-vibe energy and now your photos are ready for you. Time to celebrate!
Might I suggest a few ways you can celebrate?!
First, do a little happy dance because your life as an entrepreneur is about to get a little easier with your gallery of brand photos on hand.
Next, follow these steps to ensure your brand photos are at the ready for all of the great, intentional marketing you're about to do.
1. Download Your Gallery
The first step is to download your gallery in both full-resolution and web-size images.
You'll receive your images through a gallery delivery service called Pixieset. The great thing about this service is the ability to download your images at full-resolution (the resolution I upload them as) and at web-size (Pixieset will compress your images so they're easier to use online).
What's the difference between full-resolution and web-size images and where should they be used?
Full-resolution images:Â These are high-quality images perfect for printing, large digital displays, or any situation where pixel perfection is crucial.
Web-size images:Â These are smaller, compressed images optimized for the web. They load faster and are ideal for use on websites, social media, and emails.
BIG TIP #1: Never screenshot your images and call it good enough. You're capturing a super low-resolution image that doesn't have the quality of the original photo.
2. Curate Your Favorites
Go through your downloaded images and create a folder of your favorites. This will make it easier to quickly grab the perfect image for any occasion. Repeat this process for both full-resolution and web-size images.
3. Backup Your Images
Don't risk losing your precious photos! You've saved them to your computer and now it's time to save a copy of them somewhere else for safe keeping.
Back up your full-resolution and web-size images to a second location. Consider using cloud storage services like Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud, or an external hard drive.
BIG TIP #2: I personally save my favorite images from my computer to DropBox. This way I can easily access those photos from my phone, making it super easy to post them to social media or upload them as profile photos, etc.
4. Sprinkle Your Photos Everywhere
Just like confetti you want to sprinkle your shiny new brand photos all over the place! Of course, you'll want to strategically market your business, however, you can certainly add updated brand photos throughout your marketing channels.
The marketer in me also wants you to pause and do one thing first...
Before you begin to upload and post photos, rename your photos keeping SEO in mind. For example, if you're a Loudoun County family photographer, use those keywords and create a file name like 'LoudounCountyFamilyPhotographer_JaneDoe-1'.
This particular example includes a location, what you offer, and your business name. The purpose of doing this is to attract a search engine's attention the next time someone is searching for your particular service. You'll likely show up in the image results but the viewer will have the ability to click through to where you posted that image.
Will it catapult you to the top of Google? Probably not. Will it expand your SEO footprint? Absolutely!
Now that you've updated your file names, here's some suggestions as to where to post your photos:
Website:Â Update your About photo and add a few new images throughout your website. Google loves frequent website updates.
Social Media:Â Refresh your profile pictures on platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook.
Email Signature:Â Add a professional headshot to your email signature.
These are just a few quick suggestions to get that fresh look out there and gain the attention of your audience. You'll want to review your marketing goals and figure out how you want to effectively use your brand photos. You certainly don't want to use them all at once!
BIG TIP #3: Be sure to share your gallery of brand photos with your marketing team. That is, your web designer, social media manager, virtual assistant, etc. Anyone who may be marketing on your behalf will need access to your fresh photos.
So there you have it - the first four steps to take after you receive your brand photos!
