A Spring Wedding at Greencroft Club in Charlottesville, Virginia

Elizabeth + Nick | Married

05.14.2022

Walking into Nick & Elizabeth’s reception space at Greencroft Club in Charlottesville, the song ‘Days Like This’ by Van Morrison was playing.

Guests were off enjoying cocktail hour and this was the quiet time before the reception kicked off with introductions and dances. Time to focus on the little details – place settings, florals, favors.

Van Morrison reminds me of being a little kid in the car with my dad and the various cassette tapes he had from the artist. As a kid, I never truly listened to the lyrics but got the gist of the song. Well my mama told me there’d be days like this…

As the song played, it ‘hit different’ as some say.

The headlines in 2022 provoked a wide variety of emotions, usually the lesser preferred emotions. Everyday felt like something new to process.

Finally, May 14th was a day that was just meant to be enjoyed. There’ll be days like this…

A Spring Saturday spent in central Virginia started out at Elizabeth’s home where she and her bridesmaids were busy preparing for the day. Everyone was cheerful and on top of their game.

The ceremony took place at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Charlottesville, VA. While I’m unfamiliar with the proper terms, the interior of this church was absolutely gorgeous. Bright, open, and full of light.

As the ceremony commenced, the wedding party entered and walked the long aisle to the Sanctuary. Nick waited patiently to see Elizabeth for the first time. Elizabeth was escorted down the aisle by her father and Nick had the sweetest reaction.

Uplifting messages of love and the sanctity of marriage were shared. The Bride and Groom sat side by side as they heard these words. They’d occasionally lean in to exchange comments, leaving them smiling.

Now this particular wedding day everything fell into place like a flick of a switch…

[thanks to everyone’s hard work and excellent coordination]

Ominous storms were in the forecast for the day, concentrated around portrait time. Fortunately, everything fell into place and those forecasted storms were a brief sprinkle leaving soft drops in the background of photos. When it's not always raining there'll be days like this…

Greencroft Club was a charming venue located on the outskirts of Charlottesville. The exterior gave ‘Father of the Bride’ vibes especially in May with the flowers blooming.

As the reception commenced the room filled with family members and friends all eager to celebrate. A positive energy filled the room and everyone was excited to be a part of such a wonderful wedding day.

Nick and Elizabeth’s love is contagious and truly a privilege to observe. The excitement and connection they share helps you realize who and what is important in your own life. When all the parts of the puzzle start to look like they fit it…

Then I must remember there'll be days like this.

I am so thankful I was able to witness Nick & Elizabeth’s wedding day. A day that was so perfect in both execution and sentiment, serving as a reminder that there will be days like this to reframe our outlook and focus on what’s important.

Cheers to Nick & Elizabeth!
