Did We Just Become Best Friends?!
Look at you doing your research about your wedding vendors – proud of you! It’s an important step when finding the right mix of vendors for your wedding.
Think about it – would you blindly walk into a hair appointment with a hairdresser you’ve never met or even seen their work and ask them to chop off 3 inches of hair and have balayage done? Do you think you’d walk away super happy? It’s always a possibility! But is it a risk you want to take with such a big thing? Probably not.
So that’s why I want to share more about myself as a person AND as a wedding photographer. Read every word or skim through it, I just appreciate that you’re taking the time to get to know me a little better.
Oh look, that’s me. In a nutshell, I am a comedy-loving, creative + tech minded, long walks through Target kind of person. I have lived and worked all over Northern Virginia, it's home to me. Marketing was my first career choice and led me into various jobs from health + fitness to emergency preparedness to the wineries and beyond.

James Madison grad and love JMU Football; nope The Assistant was not named after the mascot but I am A-OK with that parallel
The Office obsessed; Season 2 is my favorite and I love listening to The Office Ladies podcast for all the behind the scenes goodness from each episode
I identify as Basic and I’m totally okay with that. Brunch? Yes, please. Leggings? Always. Coffee and wine? Wine not! My wedding hashtag with my friends was #basicbitchgetshitched and I had several years when we’d do a Basic B fall party and indulge in everything pumpkin spice, leggings, flannels, etc.
Bridezillas reached out to have me apply for casting when I was engaged. Surely they reach out to a lot of brides-to-be but I was flattered but knew I wouldn’t make it because I wasn’t a bridezilla.
Who are the players in my world?
The Better Half, Wyatt – We’ve been together since 2015, ever since we swiped right on each other. We have been on some stellar trips together - exploring Paris, overwater bungalow in Mexico, people watching in Vegas - and have seen some really cool DC sports moments - against the glass + next to the goal for Ovie’s 500th goal, inaugural game for the DC Valor, Game 5 of the Nats at the World Series. He’s definitely my biggest supporter and tolerates all my Bravo shows.
The Assistant, Duke – He’s such a bubba. He’s taken on the roll of the assistant within Emily Marcella Photography. Duke loves The Street (that good, good Elmo and Cookie Monster), loves all kinds of books, eating is his hobby, and has energy for DAYS. Often times you will find him in my Insta stories.
The Pets, Jax and Millie – also known as Flotsam and Jetsam, double trouble, gruesome twosome, Jaxy boy and Millie mewski. Toleration level zero for cuddles. But we love them!
So Why Wedding Photography?
Simply put, I love events, I love the planning that goes into an event, I love flowers and décor, I love people in love, and I love that I get the opportunity to be a part of all that.
I love getting to know my couples! Your wedding is a great reflection of who you two are and it’s so fun to see how you all choose to celebrate. And if you think it ends once I deliver your gallery, think again. I love looking through my couples’ wedding photos because it brings up so many memories from THEIR special day.
