An Outdoor Romantic Summer Wedding in Stephens City, Virginia

Updated: Jul 5, 2021

Amanda + James | Married

September 5th, 2020

On a perfect September day, Amanda and James said 'I do' in front of all their loving family and friends at Trumpet Vine Farm in Stephens City, Virginia.

Before the day started, I met the bride and her bridal party in their getting ready suite. All the girls were wearing coordinated monogramed getting ready outfits while putting on their makeup and having their hair done. As Amanda was preparing for her wedding day, she mentioned that we (photographer and videographer) shouldn't expect tears or crying - it just wasn't something she or her family did. Fair enough, you can't force emotion. From there I didn't think much of it and continued to take photos.

At the ceremony, James stood at the altar patiently waiting his bride's entrance. He had his back to the aisle so that he wouldn't sneak a peek at his bride before she made her entrance. Amanda was escorted down the aisle by her mother and father and as she approached James turned around. His first look at his gorgeous bride elicited the most genuine reaction. Tears streamed down his cheeks and a smile came to his face. You could tell he was bursting with love for her.

James' grandfather conducted the ceremony which he started with a prayer and then shared sentiments on love, marriage, and commitment before moving into the vows. During the vows, more tears emerged between the couple. It's always so wonderful to hear a couple exchange their vows. How can you not get a little emotional and feel the love that they share?

Turns out there were a lot of really sweet tears shed during their wedding day. The toasts from the Maid of Honor, Best Man, and Fathers of both the bride and groom, continued to keep the tears coming. The overwhelming sense of love this group shared could be felt by all!

Don't you worry - there was plenty of fun to be had throughout the night! The wedding party kept it real from throwing the bride up in the air during portraits, to the groom's father having everyone laughing during toasts, and even the bride and groom breaking out into a choreographed number with their wedding party during their first dance. Plus, this crowd could DANCE! DJ Sensation kept the music alive and the wedding guests were moving.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Lakey! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your wonderful wedding day!
